Some snapshots from Rue Magazine, one of our favourite on-line publications.  The extra attention that the editors pay to the character pieces within the design, really help the reader to understand the environment that was created.   For the latest issue click here.

Miller House

If you are inclined to use colour and or bold prints in a design, but worry about it becoming tired or going out of style, you should look through Miller House by architect Eero Saarinen and designer Alexander Girard.  Located in Columbus Indiana this house was designed back in 1953 and to this day would be any modernists dream.  Even the inspiration board is a work of art!  For additional photographs and more information check out the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

Yesterday was a little bit of a shock with its -16 c weather. We’ve got the colder temperatures but where is the snow? As we wait for our snowscape to appear here’s an installation created by Tokujin Yoshioka which captures the essences of nature through the artificial simulation of snow. You can also check a video here, posted by Dezeen to feel the full impact of Yoshioka’s installation.

A friend sent me this link this afternoon and I have been dreaming of the lodge ever since.  A perfect combination of stunning landscapes, fantastic art and comforting interiors.  My next vacation spot is the Graff Estate.

Florence Broadhurst

Ever since her death in 1977, Australian born, Florance Broadhurst’s stunning designs have been showcased in various forms.  The latest form being hand woven rugs that are produced in Nepal and consist of hemp, wool, nettle, bamboo silk and pure silk!  These rare pieces of art are on a limited release and are even more spectacular to see in person.  I recommend a trip to Canadian supplier, Modern Weave to do just that!

I love the way that ACE hotels have built their hotel websites.  Each of the four landing pages tells a story about the featured city through square + rectangular photographs.  Great eye candy!
