The Alison Milne Design Team along with our featured artist Harley Valentine had the pleasure of participating in Art in the Park this past September. This incredible Art Exhibition held at Trinity Bellwoods Park featured talented artists from all over Canada displaying their creative visions.

ART IN THE PARK

Some of the pieces featured at the exhibit included our zebra wood bench. Inspired by the Bertoia chair by Harry Bertoia, the metal tubular base was powder coated and finished in a high gloss white. The top of the bench was constructed from reclaimed zebra wood in which we had lacquered.

NOW INTRODUCING MIRRUS MAXIMUS!
Harley Valentine left us once again in amazement at his incredible display of sculptural photo work. The newest edition to his collection was the Mirrus Maximus which he featured at the exhibit. Standing 6.5 feet tall Maximus is Harley’s first full scale sculptural photo-work, maximus is composed of found and store bought object scavenged from around Toronto. Harley has built a rotating mechanism that interacts with the viewer on 2 planes something he calls “the life/death spin”. Mirrus Maximus reflects a life to one side with a XL convex mirror, originally intended for an underground parking garage, and to its opposite a kaleidoscopic car crash, a found photograph from the 1980′s. Between these two reflections the experience of the life death spin takes hold!

Some other pieces featured by the artist was “Oxford Fitz” of The Dream Ballet & the petite bourgeois collection as well as the 1st of 5 pieces in the “Homage To Mies” which pays tribute to the late and great Mies van der Rohe. Cut up in proper Harley styled kaleidoscopic form the TD towers grid like reflections of themselves entrance the viewer creating a dramatic composition.

Harley has these and other pieces all featured on his website at www.harleyvalentine.com
